Lakeland’s AGB Museum of Art Unveils and Names Its New Wing

VIPs got a sneak preview of the museum expansion on Thursday; it opens to the public on Jan. 18.

The weekend service from the Citrus Connection uses eight-passenger golf carts to ferry passengers through downtown Lakeland.

Topics include Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, swans, Silver Moon Drive-In, women aviators and Bonnet Springs Park.

The Lakeland native was the first woman to chair the boards of major local educational, health and arts institutions.

Martin is the 18th president of the Lakeland college known for its Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings.

Martin, currently a vice president at William & Mary, will take over from Anne Kerr on Aug. 1.

Students will learn about architecture on a campus with 15 structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Anne Kerr, who became president in 2004, plans to retire this year. A search for her successor will begin immediately.
