Lakeland’s 3rd Annual ‘Book Crawl’ Begins Monday

The event gives independent bookstores a much-needed boost, with deals and giveaways to celebrate small business and literacy.

At least a dozen projects are underway and more are planned to transform Lakeland’s west side.

Thirteen cameras are planned for downtown; most were installed during the past month.

My Office & More, Divicious Deli and Coffee Shop, the Bodega Market and the Studio on Main hair salon will remain open.

Some of the surveillance cameras are already operational along the streets surrounding Munn Park. The rest will be installed soon.

Tampa-based Seven One Seven Parking Enterprises is now managing at least four privately owned parking lots downtown.

Several boutiques have opened in Dixieland and downtown in recent months, offering authentic in-person clothing shopping experiences.

Design recommendations will be unveiled during the annual Strategic Planning sessions in May.

The Lakeland Downtown Development Authority is hosting a merchant meeting Tuesday at 8 a.m.

The road will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for the next several weeks as sewer lines are repaired.
